International symposium 9 July 2009

The proceedings of the international symposium The International Court of Justice and Israel's Wall: 5 years on – Civil society in search of accountability have been published. United Civilians for Peace organised this symposium on 9th July 2009, exactly 5 years after the ICJ ruling on the wall which Israel is building on the West Bank. In this ruling, the ICJ determined that the wall is illegal and that those parts that are built on Palestinian land should be dismantled. During the symposium, speakers and participants looked back on this landmark ruling and discussed what part the ruling could play in the efforts towards a just solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

On this page you will find, beside the summary of the proceedings, also the speeches and presentations of the speakers. For the videos of the speeches please go to www.unitedcivilians.nl/icj. Participants have received the proceedings by mail. If you did not participate but still wish to receive the proceedings, you can send an e-mail to icj@unitedcivilians.nl.
